30 days has September
September has been rife with lush sunrises, simple joys, and laughter bellowing out of the kitchen. We have planted and grown, eaten kale 500 different ways (including drinking it:), we found that even stripper poles can make their way into the jungle, that home-made pesto is perfect after a long farm day, we learned how to harvest sweet potatoes, and turned tool sheds into shelters, we had movie night, and celebrated Zach's birthday with vegan raspberry-chocolate cake, we drank gallons of tea, we broke a toilet more than once, and built new pepper beds, we crawled down storm drains leading to secret beaches, and swam with fish that have the longest name in the world, we ate peanut butter and banana bread for a midnight snack, we fasted, and ate, and then fasted again, we made 'spamana-bread' and played music around the campfire, we watched the sun rise at redsands, and we rode in the back of trucks with smiling-creasing eyes, and made friends that we will never forget. photos by Marlena and Lisa
