Farewell Sweet Karoline

Karoline blew in on a September breeze- and none of us had any clue as to what a gift had just arrived at that moment. But perhaps we should have known...after all you blew my mind the first moment you arrived (biking the entire Hana Hwy to the farm!). We thought we were lucky to have you until winter, which turned into the New Year, and then until Syd got back, and then until Spring;) If Paul had his way we would have kept you here forever, but school and life and dreams were calling. There is really no way to sum up just what a tremendous impact you had on the farm. From the beginning,I was so touched by the way you became an instant Farm-Mama (even though she was only 21!). You had a beautiful way of bringing everyone together- whether it was for dinner or a dance party...and reminded me what a virtue it is to speak with kindness and gentleness no matter what the situation is. Thank you for putting 150% into everything you did, Thank you for being so so so amazing at the stand, and for truly embracing and immersing yourself into this community and culture as a whole. For showing so much kindness to our neighbors and always lending a helping hand. Thank you for all of the extra time you gave to the garden, for the amazing feasts and dance parties in the kitchen. Thank you for "baby it's cold outside" and "when I'm lovin' you..." and every single other time you shared your art,and passion, and your amazing voice with us all. You were the embodiment of what it truly means to live with aloha...and always remember not only do 'I love your prowess and the things that you do'....but, that you will always have a home in Hana and a farm-ily that cherishes you.
