July is in full bloom! Our sweet Rihanna came back for the summer!!!! ( yayayayay!) She has become our full time baker, and basically lives at the beach when she isn't at work. It is inspiring to have someone here that makes a routine for themselves to swim every day. It has been incredible having that laugh here again, echoing down the hill. Our other baker, Sydney from St. Louis Missouri has picked up on baking famously. I am so impressed with how acclimated she has gotten to life in the jungle. I remember her first week, she asked about each spider, and if it was poisonous or not, and now, she bumps right into them without even flinching:) I am grateful for how easy-going you are miss Sydney Holst. You really keep calm, and collected, whether it is a centipede bite, or Ulanis car rolling down the hill into a tree:) And, the wind has blown in some of the cutest lil' things right out of a Dr. Suess book (there must be some book about the two of them!)....Sam and Kelly (Kam and Smelly). They really are like 'thing 1' and 'thing 2'....running around the land chasing each other. Uncontrollably laughing, "high-fives for breakfast", bathroom serenades and the best home-made pizza on the island. It is so refreshing to have young love on the farm, to remember what 22 feels like. Evening camp-fires and communal meals have revived themselves (we had a lull after Willow left:), and walking up the hill smelling white gingers in bloom, and plumerias lining the driveway...Summer sure is sweet.
I would love to volunteer on your farm. Is the program free, or does it cost money. How must one go about applying for the program. Can you tell me more information on whether or not I would be a desired canidate? Thank you, Charles and Daphne Slovenick
ReplyDeleteI too am interested in your farm internship. Can you post something that tells people how they might go about the application process. Thanks, Summer
ReplyDeleteI just had your bread and hot sauce! It is amazing! Do all of you make it or just certain people? Can I order it online? We would love to carry it at our co-op here in Seattle. Let me peruse to see if I can find a contact number or direct e-mail for ordering. But, WOW- really fantastic products! And it takes a LOT to WOW me!
