Devorah and Jacob

Yous two will never get off this property. That is to say, you made a dent that can't be pulled out. At weeks end our mouths will still collectively salivate for Jacobs challah, it was the first time I ate bread where I could actually taste the prayers in it;) Devorah's humming devotedness to the garden, giving structure and a rhythm and numbers to the beds and in turn giving it a language we could all understand. And the transformation of the old shed, well...who wouldn't want to stay there now? No one asked you to do these things. No one thought of them. You did. And you did it all with a quiet humility that reminded us all to be a little more gentle and a little more genuine. Who carved you two, anyway? And what are you doing now, we wonder? Like a couple of the coolest clouds ever seen, you keep drifting. Raining the wonders in a drought. Years coming up to your grand convergence, years well spent in expectance, you knew what you were in for with each other. We didn't have a clue. And thank you for the surprise.
